The little things that matter…

December 9th, 2011 | By RTB

A father smashes his face in a copy machine and makes a copy. His son then puts a pen to the paper over 3 million times placing tiny dots in perfect detail to create an incredible portrait of his dads smashed face.

It’s a pretty ugly face, but there is beauty in the art.

Artist of the Week: Jesse Boykins III

Artist of the Week: Jesse Boykins III

Jesse Boykins III

Jesse Boykins III

Born in Chicago, relocated to Brooklyn, Jesse Boykins III is a breath of fresh air. Boykins’ style is “grown” comparable to Dwele or D’Angelo and his producer Machine Drum complements the jazzy-infused R&B sound. No 808s and Autotune here. Summed up in two words I would say he has a “smooth” and “grown” sound.

Jesse’s career in music began at the age of 9 when he joined his school choir. He soon began auditioning around Miami and found himself recording with various local Miami artists. In High School Jesse was invited to perform in the Grammy Jazz Ensemble and recorded a full length album with them. After high school, Jesse was recruited to The New School University in New York City where he perfected his skills as a writer, performer, arranger and producer and as a vocalist. He also studied with classical trainer Kamal Scott and Universal recording artist Bilal.
